The healthier our ecosystems are, the healthier the planet and its people will be.On February 7, 2022, the International Department and Research Office of GREEN Development Council of China held a working discussion on the relevant work and action plan of the “United Nations Decade of Ecosystem Restoration”.
In 2019, under the leadership of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations General Assembly announced the implementation of the United Nations Decade for Ecosystem Restoration initiative, covering the period 2021-2030 and lasting for 10 years.The UN Decade for Ecosystem Restoration initiative aims to prevent, halt and reverse the degradation of terrestrial and Marine ecosystems and calls for the protection and restoration of millions of hectares of ecosystems for the benefit of people and the natural world.Because restoring ecosystems can help end poverty, combat climate change and prevent mass extinctions.And this initiative will only succeed if everyone is involved.China Biodiversity Conservation and Green Development Foundation has long been committed to biodiversity conservation and green development.Presiding over the meeting, Zhou stressed that current ecosystem restoration projects need nature-based solutions, but more human-oriented solutions.The application of this flagship program is not only a good opportunity to spread the achievements of China’s ecological civilization construction, but also an opportunity to share China’s latest experience with experts from all walks of life in environmental protection.The restoration project covered biodiversity conservation, climate change, Marine ecosystem restoration and other hot topics, with the participation of experts from many countries, including the Green Society International Elephant Expert Group.Zhou Jinfeng said, to the project clearly, clearly, do a good job in international communication.At present, the green Society’s projects on coral restoration in Hainan and elephant habitat ecosystem in Pu ‘er are still being applied.
